Comment on the excessive speed of traffic on
the roads in Oxhill. There is a recent report of a startling new development
in the design and efficiency of speed bumps -'Sleeping Policemen.'
Apparently the latest technology has designed them as serrations set
parallel to the side of the road and across the carriageway. It is claimed
that these speed bumps only bump the vehicle with a very restrictive
effect with little or no noise affecting properties in the street or on
the roadside; even empty lorries passing by make a minimum amount of
noise. Perhaps an investigation into the accuracy of the report and the possibility of placing such bumps in Oxhill would not come amiss. R.T.
