That Volcano on the Cover Dear George, Greetings! I am sorry for the delay in giving you information about the volcano. Here are the details: The name is Volcán Santa Maria, called "gagzanul" by the local Mayan people, which means naked mountain. It is an active volcano, 3,772 metres high and about 15 kilometers from La Antigua de Guatemala, which was the ancient capital of Guatemala.
