Apology We are very sorry for the smoke that blew over the village (Green Lane especially) on the May Day Bank Holiday weekend. Somehow our muck heap was set alight, either by spontaneous combustion or vandals. It was not lit by us, but as well as causing nuisance to the village we have lost a considerable amount of manurial value for the fields. On the Saturday we spent over an hour with the digger isolating the burning part into one small heap but on Sunday the whole heap re-lit and, with the strong wind blowing, it was impossible to put it out.
