Village Hall A.G.M. The AGM was held in the village hall on 3rd May 2007, starting at 8.00 p.m. Chairman Ray Dagg welcomed the largest audience for an AGM for many a long year, and went on to describe the state of the Village Hall’s finances. During his term as Chairman £28,000 has been raised and numerous improvements have been made to the hall. However, support for fundraising events has dwindled recently and over the last 12 months the only two successful fundraising events were the Progressive Supper and the Bill Gardner Memorial match. Treasurer Ian Broderick presented copies of his financial report. The financial situation is not healthy with outgoings such as insurance, council tax and water rates increasing and income, particularly letting income, not keeping pace. A lengthy discussion, somewhat heated at times, took place. The election of the new committee was run by the outgoing treasurer, and Keith Seabridge, Julie Seabridge, Tracey Hackett, Ian Broderick, Diana Cronin, George Adams, Brian Badger, Judy Badger, Angela Emmerson, John McKail, Cecilia Miller, Peter Taylor, Una Hill and Pat Crowther were duly proposed, seconded and elected. Under Any Other Business Jill Tucker proposed that a letter should be sent to Ray and Linda Dagg thanking them for their work and efforts over the last several years. The proposal was rapidly seconded and accepted by the meeting, which was then closed. At a committee meeting which took place immediately after the AGM Brian Badger was elected Chairman, Diana Cronin Secretary, John McKail Treasurer and Judy Badger Communications Officer. Gwyn Adams was co-opted to the committee and elected Bookings Secretary. Editor |
