Upton House Open Day

There have been exciting changes taking place at Upton House and Gardens over the past year, if you haven’t visited us in a while, why not come along on our Heritage Open Day, Saturday 12th September, when its free entry.

A new introductory film showing a house party taking place at Upton in 1938 sets the scene, and gives you the chance to see the recently restored 1930s Squash Court. Then follow the story into the house where the party atmosphere continues – listen to conversations between guests; tune in the wireless to hear 1930s news and music; sit down and relax in the rooms as you browse through journals, receipts and letters or play a few shots on the snooker table.

Walking around the garden in the late summer sunshine you will find the asters in full colour, beans galore in the vegetable garden and the start of autumn colour in the Bog Garden. The garden team are embarking on a five year plan to return the gardens to their 1930s glory, and you will be able to see the changes already made as well as finding out what they’re doing next.

The Pavilion Restaurant and Gift Shop will also be open to complete your visit.

For details of opening times please visit www.nationaltrust.org.uk or call the property on 01295 670266.
