Cover Pictures Going downstairs one morning recently I was startled by a loud bang, clearly a bird strike on the landing window. Opening the curtain explained all; the collared dove had been chased into the window by the sparrow-hawk and, presumably, caught on the rebound. The hawk did much of his butchering on the lawn but took the body away to eat. Editor |
