Deanery News

Dear Friends,

I hope that everyone has had a good summer, and enjoyed some rest and relaxation. As we enter the season of Harvest, there is one significant Deanery occasion. On Tuesday, October 11th at 7.30pm in Long Compton Church the Deanery Synod will meet to consider the current moves towards the Ordination and Consecration of Women to the Episcopate: i.e. women bishops.  The meeting will be given over to examining this matter in some depth, so that the views of our Synod are known ahead of the Diocesan Synod on November 5th when a formal (Diocesan) vote will be taken.  All are very welcome.

Talks about the Bible, in Tredington

This year is the 400th anniversary of the King James Version of the English Bible.  To mark it, Gordon Kuhrt is to lead four sessions on the Bible, to be held in the Chancel of St. Gregory’s, Tredington, and everyone from the Deanery is invited.

Wednesday October 5th: How was the Bible assembled?

Wednesday October 19th: How is the Bible to be interpreted?

Wednesday November 2nd: How is the Bible translated?

Wednesday November 16th: How is the Bible to be used?

Every blessing,

Jill
