Deanery News

Dear Friends,

As I write, the Pentecost Eucharist has yet to happen, so at this stage all I can do is to extend a massive vote of thanks to all those who are working so hard on this event, particularly of course the church family St. Gregory’s in Tredington.  They have been invaded and disrupted to an extraordinary degree, and we own them a huge debt of gratitude.  Julian Harris has been working beyond even his usual frenetic level to compose music for us and rehearse choirs. Then there are those who will have made sashes and cakes, printed documents and arranged flowers, parked cars, arranged chairs and helped out massively on the day, loaned us their silverware and taken part in the service, plus things I am bound to have forgotten.  Thank you all.

The next Deanery Synod will be on Tuesday, 17th July (postponed from June), at 7.30pm at Whatcote.  Martin Kirkbride, Diocesan Learning Advisor, will talk about the new format of the Bishop’s Certificate in Discipleship.

Finally, the Deanery Garden Party will once again be happening at The Old House, Oxhill, on Saturday 4th August between 3 and 5pm.  This year we will be specifically aiming to raise funds to support parish ministry in some of the financially poorer parts of our diocese. Everyone from the Deanery is welcome: gifts of cake are welcome too!

Every blessing, Jill
