Vicarage Notes

Dear friends,

I write my modest contribution just before the main events – still looking forward to the lunch and the Jubilee celebrations!

Carol is putting folk in the picture about the APCM, but may I add my voice to the thanks for all the work that people contribute to the life of the Parish Church. The latest job has been the spring clean – St.Lawrence’s looks much improved. We will have to wait for the walls to be thoroughly dry before any lime wash is applied.

I am currently completing the English Heritage Grant Application Form with the PCC’s help – and we hope, in years to come, to renew the nave roof and crumbling stonework around the whole church. Our architect, Mr Stephen Matthews, feels fairly confident of success. The form has to be in by the end of June and we should know the result by the end of the year. These things do not happen in a hurry!

During the long season of Trinity in the Church’s year, the liturgical colour changes to green – the sign of growth and life. It is the constant prayer that the Christian family will remain faithful to its calling in serving God and others. HM the Queen at her coronation made solemn oaths to lead the nation, and indeed the Church of England, in the same duty. May we all continue to do our best.

Best wishes and God bless,

Nicholas Morgan    01608 685230
