Life in the Superfast Lane

At a recent Parish Council meeting those present heard that the internet is playing an increasingly important role in modern home life, enabling leisure activities such as social media, free video conversations using Skype, safe and secure work from home using Cloud Computing, and managing your private accounts using online banking. Children may also excel at school by using online learning resources to help with their homework and studies.

Unfortunately, many homes across Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire do not have the ability to connect to fast reliable internet connections, and we need your help.

Just over £8m is available from central and local government for the provision of superfast broadband (24Mbps or more) in the area. However, Internet suppliers will only invest in building broadband infrastructure if they can guarantee sufficient demand for a good return on investment. They will only do this for the areas which demonstrate the greatest demand.

To help, all you have to do is complete the Residents or Business Survey at www.cswbroadband.org.uk. If you run a business or work from home please complete both. Encourage your neighbours to do the same, because the more people who respond from a given area, the higher priority it will receive!

Your assistance could make all the difference to your area getting superfast broadband.

The Parish Council are fully supporting the project and have asked Mike Collins to act as their broadband champion. Any questions please contact Mike on 680564 or e-mail broadband@oxhill.org.uk.

Please remember to complete the survey at www.cswbroadband.org.uk.
