Vicarage Notes

Advent and Christmas

There is, of course, a warm welcome to the special services that are held at this time of the year. Advent – the season of preparation for the coming of Christ in glory and as the child of Bethlehem – prefigures the celebration of the Nativity in churches, schools and homes. We sing our carols with joy, forgetting they were once banned by the puritans of Cromwellian times and returned into hymn books only in the late 19th century. The great Christian themes of love, joy and peace can still, I hope, be encouraged by the proclamation of Christmas praise.

Restoration Project

The faculty application has been approved by the Diocese, so that’s moving forward, and the 2nd English Heritage application has been despatched. We continue to trundle. The porch roof, involving police, insurance, Diocese and English Heritage is also under discussion!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ONE AND ALL FROM MARTIN AND MYSELF

Best wishes and God bless,
