Lent 2014

All are warmly invited to the Deanery Lent Services again this year, especially the first at Tysoe on Tues. March 11th at 7.30pm. Full details are in the Deanery notice in the News.

Lent is, of course, the time that Christians have used for centuries to consider their faith – its importance to them and the best way to put it into action – not so much by saying no, but in saying yes in ways that will reveal compassion and care. The communion prayer for Lent I seems just right:

O Lord our God, who hast renewed us with the living bread from heaven, and dost nourish our faith, increase our hope and strengthen our love:
incline our hearts always to hunger for him who is the true and living bread and give us grace to live by every word that proceedeth out of thy mouth;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Restoration Project

Please support the concert next month by the Carice Singers – a highly professional choir - in aid of the appeal. The scaffolding and temporary hut should be erected this month and work on the roof begin. There will be some inconvenience, but the contractors, Croft Conservation, will try and keep it to a minimum.

In our prayers

We remember all whose lives have been turned upside down by the severe weather and flooding, particularly farmers whose livelihoods have been put under great stress. The church supports the “Farming Community Network” a charity that provides advice and support across the country -  a worthy recipient of donations this Lent.

Best wishes and God bless,
