Autumn has Arrived - Offical!

How things have changed over the last few weeks – wet and cold with sunny periods is the best description. This means the raspberries have now finished and the canes look rather sad. Some years they do fruit into November but we must be grateful for the good weather this summer which has enabled us to pick a bumper crop.

The apples are hanging on but the bird damage has meant that the best use for them so far was to make apple jelly, and a delicious light jelly it is!

Obviously we didn't have our own apples for Apple Day. The amount needed to produce a litre of juice is between 3 and 4 kg so it will a while before we have enough to actually make juice. The weather surprisingly perked up after a damp and horrible morning and with some sun shine everyone enjoyed the chopping, crushing and juicing the fruit that people provided. We also served tea and cake and had our lovely jams and cakes on the produce stall along with local honey (ours has all gone!). Many thanks to the Tysoe Flower Show people for letting us use their tent, yet again, to make sure we could carry on regardless of the weather!

We have plenty of tasks to do this autumn so why not come along and help out?

If you would like to join us/ find out more do come along to one of our sessions on a Wednesday from 10:00 to 12:00 and on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 or contact one of the team.
