Tysoe School

Summer Term Update

This is always an eventful term and, after a week-long break, everyone was busy finding out about the Commonwealth. Every class chose one specific country, each from a different continent, so from Ghana to Canada, Pakistan to Jamaica, and New Zealand to Guyana. The display boards will soon reflect all of this exciting new learning.

Children also enjoyed learning about the Queen and the Royal Family as part of the 90th birthday celebrations. The whole school had a royal event and children came dressed colourfully in red, white and blue. Each class was responsible for preparing one food item (in bulk!) to share at the street party in the afternoon. A special assembly was held at which the School Councillors were presented with commemorative coins for everyone, kindly donated by Tysoe Utilities Trust. St Mary’s Church also presented the children with informative booklets, ‘The Servant Queen’. The school orchestra played the National Anthem and Year 2 performed the maypole dance. Everyone enjoyed this lovely occasion and luckily, in sunshine!

The maypole dancers also danced skilfully at the St Mary’s Church Fete and again dry, warm weather helped this occasion. Thank you to everyone for your support.

Three teams have taken part in cricket matches held at Stratford Cricket Club as part of the Warwickshire County Cricket Tournament. Tysoe School has performed really well so far, with the Year 4 team winning their tournament and Year 6 achieving the runner-up award. The last team have not played yet, so follow the latest cricket news on our school website in the newsletter section.

There is always the opportunity for any prospective parent to visit and see the school in action. Please contact Mrs Horrocks on 01295-680244 to make an appointment.
