Vicarage Notes

Saints remembered in August tend to be neglected, but we do have the opportunity to celebrate St.Lawrence on the Sunday after his day (10^th) – come along to the Patronal Festival on the 14^th – all welcome!

For those who enjoy local walks the setting of Winderton Church is splendid. August 21^st is the one opportunity to give thanks for the life of the former “Chapel of Ease” of SS Peter and Paul, maintained as a memorial and for community purposes – all are welcome to the annual Evensong at 6.30pm.

As we hopefully enjoy a lovely summer, we give thanks for the beauty of creation and pray for all who steward the land and all involved in agriculture in these changing times.

There are quite a few modern hymns that speak of the need to care for creation, few are yet well known.

Looking at “Hymns of Glory”, one hymn includes these words:

Touch the earth lightly, use the earth gently,
Nourish the life of the world in our care:
Gifts of great wonder, ours to surrender,
Trust for the children tomorrow will bear.
