Deanery News

We have just had a wonderful Quiet Day with +David, and a fascinating (yes, really!) evening at Deanery Synod hearing all about General Synod, and as I write Ben and Byrony Dyson are moving in and looking forward to their licensing and starting work in SW7 – so we welcome them warmly.

Advent Course

This month there is to be a special Advent Course in Shipston. It looks to answer the questions: What's the point of Advent?  Is it just the run up to Christmas or is there more?  Come and join us this Advent as we rediscover the deep wisdom of this season and how themes of coming, waiting and expectation are presented in the Bible.  Uncover the true meaning of Advent and how it characterises our life all the way through the year.

Dates and Time: Wednesday evenings 7:00-9:30pm, 16th November – 14th December

Venue: First three evenings at St Edmund's Church, Church Street, Shipston on Stour, CV36 4AP. Final two evenings at Shipston On Stour Methodist Church, New Street, CV36 4EN

To register, please go to: www.dioceseofcoventry.org/BCDMregister

Given that the deadline is imminent, it would be really helpful if you could register ASAP!

Lunchtime Organ Recital

Charles Matthews, known to many of us as a brilliant musician, is giving a Lunchtime Rogan Recital in St. Edmund’s Church on Thursday, 17th November between 12.30 and 1.30pm.

Coffee will be available.  No entrance charge, but donations welcome.

Looking further ahead, the next Deanery Synod is on Tuesday, February 7th at 7.30pm in St. Edmund’s Church, Shipston, when the theme of the evening will be our care of the environment.  Godfrey Armitage from the Diocesan Environmental Group will be our speaker.

Do save the date!

Blessings, Jill
