Vicarage Notes

Restoration Project

The P.C.C. has accepted the English Heritage grant offer for the fist stage of the development work. We have received  expressions of support from folk and we felt confident in going forward. The heritage of St Lawrence's is valued by many in the village in addition to the regular congregation, and fund raising suggestions have already been made. We will, of course, be applying to charitable trusts both local and national, and if anyone has content details of potential donors, please let me or one of the wardens know. St Lawrence's belongs to the whole community, and any support given is valued. We will be keeping everyone as fully informed as possible!

Lent 2013

As Easter is quite early this year, Lent begins in the middle of February. A glance at the village diary will reveal a busy time as organisations and committees start up again. Perhaps the reflective time of Lent will encourage us to ensure that what is now called "life-balance" is achieved. Stillness is there in the open church and the surrounding countryside - do we value it enough? The first of the B.C.P. comfortable words is: "Come unto me all that travail and are heavy laden, and I will refresh you" (Matthew 11.28). A timely reminder in our busy age!

Best wishes and God bless,
